Our Cemetery

Liberty Hill Cemetery is a historic cemetery that had been forgotten and not maintained for over 100 years. The cemetery contains 192 gravesites. Including many black and Hispanic graves (according to The TX collection B.U.), as well as Three World War 1 graves. A Masson of the 333 Light of the East Masonic Lodge in Hewitt, Tx. was discovered.  Richard Maker has initiated the effort to clear out the overgrown cemetery of about 1-1/4 acres, with volunteers from Woodway, Daughters of American Revolution youth group, And the local VFW post. Our cemetery is a reminder of the history and culture of the area, and we strive to preserve it for future generations.

{update: there was a cleanup effort in years, 2003, 2010. without maintenance}
